Job Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for driving a large tractor-trailer with safety as the first priority. Drivers must remain seated in the driver’s seat for extended periods of time. Vehicle inspections require the Driver to walk, stoop and bend at the knees. (See physical abilities test requirements)
Drivers must work a flexible schedule.
Drivers serve as the company representative when delivering loads and interacting with customers, and are expected to treat customers with courtesy and respect at all times. Drivers interact with other Drivers on a minimal basis.

Main Job Tasks
Operates vehicle in a manner that shows safety is a priority
Drives defensively at all times to avoid accidents
Visually and manually inspects the inside and outside of the vehicle
Follows a structured checklist to document condition of the vehicle
Documents improperly working items or damage to the vehicle
Loads and unloads freight according to customer and freight handling specifications
Secures cargo for transport
Checks and protects freight during transport
Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading positions, and checks that vehicle loading and unloading equipment is properly positioned
Interacts with customers in a pleasant and friendly manner
Responds to customer complaints and issues in a calm and professional manner
Obtains receipts or signatures when required
Checks and documents condition of vehicle at completion of transport
Documents all mileage and service hours to abide by D.O.T. log regulations
Describes vehicle condition to Maintenance personnel when repairs are needed
Uses PeopleNet to communicate with Dispatch
Completes all other daily responsibilities of a driving professional
Attends safety meetings and training programs to remain up-to-date on safety policies and procedures, and ensure that reoccurring training is complete as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED
2 years of driving experience
Valid driver’s license in the state he/she resides
Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Hazmat/tanker endorsement
TWIC
Acceptable driving record meeting company hiring standards, verified through a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
23 years of age
Ability to pass a criminal background check
Ability to pass a pre-hire driving test
Ability to pass a D.O.T. level physical and drug/alcohol test
