What is an intermodal driver?

An intermodal driver is a specific trucking job that has the driver hauling freight within a shipping container. This form of freight transportation occurs when cargo is needed to either be moved to or from another mode of transportation, like a cargo ship or train. The typical responsibilities for an intermodal driver job include picking up and delivering freight, to either the next location or its final designated destination and ensuring that the cargo arrives safely and on time. The driver is also responsible for recording the weight of the cargo, miles traveled and total travel time.
